Getting to Know Us, Getting to Know You

Who We Are

September 25, 2008 · 4 Comments

Our goal for this project is to allow children to understand that they are part of a global community and that the members of this global community are alike and different in many ways. We would like to discuss a number of different topics such as ourselves, our schools, our communties, our countries, our weather and any other topics that other members of this project would like to discuss. We are hoping that a number of schools from different parts of the United States and from different countries will join the project and will respond to the questions or projects that we and other schools post.

We will be using a wiki at the following website: nsfirstgrade.wikispaces.com for members of the project to post possible questions or projects to work on. You can also see a tutorial on the wiki on how to join our blog and become an author. If you have any questions, please email Kyle Jones at kjones@nscds.org or Hillary Wirtz at hwirtz@nscds.org.

We hope that you enjoy getting to know more about us, as we are looking forward to getting to know you. We are excited to make friends across our country and the world and to learn about different people and the different ways that people live. This is us, the first grade class at North Shore Country Day School.

Our Favorite Things

March 27, 2008 · No Comments

The first grade at North Shore Country Day School discovered that we could use math to show information about our class. We asked each first grader what their favorite pet, color, season, school snack food, board game and subject was. Then, we used tally marks to help us keep track of the answers. Finally, we showed our results using bar graphs. We hope you enjoy looking at our bar graphs and learning more about us.
